Twitter updates

I'm planning on trying something new today and using twitter to send out updates throughout the day. You'll be able to see the updates on the right hand side of my blog. That's all for now. Got to get ready for Kate and Lily's big debut!

Tomorrow our family doubles

We had our last doctor's appointment yesterday and everything is still going really well. Kate weighed in at 5 pounds 13 oz and Lily weighed in at 6 pounds 12 oz. They're about a pound apart which the doctor said is pretty normal at this point. Also, Kate's head has always been hard to measure because of how she's positioned so she might actually be bigger. Either way they've gotten to be big babies! Tomorrow we head into Labor and Delivery at Baylor Dallas at 6 am to be induced. They'll hook me up to an IV and start a Pitocin drip that should get the labor started. The doctor will more than likely end up breaking Kate's water bag and she'll be coming out first making her the oldest. Lily should come out about 30 minutes later. My doctor is hoping to have both girls delivered by 5pm but it could very well take longer. It's going to be a very long day! After 38 weeks, the last 8 of them at home, we can't wait to meet these girls and I have no idea how I'm supposed to sleep tonight! Now I'm off to make sure everything is packed and ready to go for tomorrow. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. We'll keep everyone posted on Kate and Lily's arrival!

Another Doctor's appointment

Our weekly doctor's appointment went well yesterday. We didn't get weights on the girls, but I would imagine they're at are almost 6 pounds each. She said I was 4 cm dilated and 90% effaced. I would think that would mean that I should be going into labor any day now, but my doctor went ahead and scheduled an induction date for next Wednesday, 9/30...only one week away! It's so nice having an end date in mind and now we know Kate and Lily will have September birthdays!

New, fun things

Check out Kate and Lily's new art work for their room. Catherine came over this week and brought Paula Dean's banana pudding as well as two paintings she did herself. Aren't they so cute and special?!?

Devin also got me a new toy to play with...the new I Pod Nano. It takes video so it will be lots of fun to use when the babies get here. Good thing he has long arms because he's really having to stretch to hug me!

Thank you, Devin!

36 Weeks

So September 15th has come and gone (the day I guessed the babies would come) and we had another doctor's appointment. It looks like Kate and Lily aren't quite ready to grace us with their presence. At 38 weeks my doctor will induce me, so at least I have some sort of time line....we're looking at 2 weeks or less. We have some very good news though. Kate weighs 5 pounds 3 ounces and Lily weighs 5 pounds 8 ounces! Babies under 5 pounds automatically go to the NICU so we're very thankful they broke the 5 pound mark. Here's my 36 week picture.

What goes on when we're not here......

Enough about babies..let's talk about my dog. Now that I'm at home I've been able to see what exactly Elle does during the day when we're not here. She lives a pretty boring, yet scandalous life. I don't get up much but I do take my daily shower. Here's what I usually find when I come back to the living room. Keep in mind she is NOT allowed on the couch.

It's so hard not to get mad at her because it's so funny. She seriously has the pillows propped up around her and is lying flat on her back with her paws in the air. Also, I found some good articles online about training your dog and since we're nervous about how she'll act around the babies, I started working with her yesterday. I've already taught her how to shake! Not sure how that will help her be more calm around the babies...but it's something.

When will they get here??

That's pretty much what's been on our minds lately. We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and it went really well. My doctor told me I was 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced (whatever that means!) Apparently it means that things are progressing and we could have babies by the end of the week. Then again, my doctor said it could very well be 2 more weeks. I'm such a planner and this part of pregnancy has been very hard..the not knowing. So Devin and I made some guesses. I'm thinking they'll arrive Tuesday, 9/15 and Devin thinks it will be this Friday, the 11th. Let me know what you think and we'll make a little game out of this!

We made it to 34 weeks!

When I was put on bed rest (approximately 4 weeks ago!) my doctor said she really wanted me to get to 34 weeks. The babies should weigh almost 5 pounds each now and are gaining approximately a 1/2 pound a week. In honor of my 34 week milestone, I left the house...and it wasn't for a doctor's appointment. Catherine and Jen picked me up this morning and took me to get a pedicure. Don't judge. It was so nice to get out and the chair in the nail salon reclines and gives you a nice back massage, and it was absolutely wonderful. Here's my 34 week picture. Is it the white shirt, or do I look bigger than my 33 week picture?!?!

PINK...the new color for Fall

Or at least it is at our house! From the nursery to the baby clothes, pink is everywhere. Part of the fun about having girls is all the cute clothes. I'm sure I won't be saying that once they're all dirty, but for now they're tiny and adorable. Here are a few of my favorite outfits.

These dresses have sweet flowers on the bottom.

My favorite outfit from my Aunt Sherry and Aunt Linda. It's made out of dupioni silk (the same color and material as the curtains in their room) and we will definitely be taking lots of pictures in these.

The view into their closet. It looks like they have tons of clothes until you remember that we'll be dressing two.
