Thanksgiving pictures

The girls got to meet lots of new family members and our Thansgiving trip to Shreveport went really well. My Honey got to feed both girls and Devin and I got some extra sleep Saturday night when Aunt Linda and my mom took care of the night feedings.

When we got back from Shreveport, the girls slept 10 hours straight...and they did it again last night. Keeping fingers crossed that this is a trend!

(Not sure why most of these pictures were taken with Lily...maybe Kate was asleep??? Sorry sweet Kate!)

What could I possibly be thankful for this year????

We have so much to be thankful for this year but these two girls top the list.

I found out the day before my 27th birthday that I was pregnant. Happy Birthday to me! A week later we found out we would not only be having one baby, but two. The pregnancy went very well. Full term for twins is 37 weeks and we made it to 38. Both girls were born healthy and strong, which is more than we could have ever hoped and prayed for. And things didn't go too bad for me either. I've always wanted children but have been deathly afraid of child birth. So much in fact that I skipped the child birth classes because I thought if I had to watch the videos, I would go through with it! Everything went so smoothly and I would do it all again in a heart beat. No plans for that anytime soon though...I think we have our hands full right now! Having twins has been very hard but Devin and I are very lucky to have such an amazing family. Kate and Lily don't know it yet but they are two of the luckiest girls in the world. They have two sets of wonderful grandparents (Gigi and Papa and Ganz and Pam-paw) as well as two sets of wonderful Aunts and Uncles (Aunt Jenny and Uncle Jeff and Aunt Melissa and Uncle Chris). They also have two cousins right here in Dallas that they'll be incredibly close with (Grayson and Sloane). They stopped by and visited us this afternoon.

We're headed to Shreveport tomorrow to spend Thanksgiving with my family but we'll miss our family in Dallas. We love you very much!

Lastly, I'm thankful for my wonderful husband. Kate and Lily have a wonderful Daddy who loves them very much. I'm so proud of what a hard worker he is and so very thankful that I'm able to stay home with our girls everyday and watch them grow. Happy Thanksgiving!

A whole 2 months

We've officially made it to the 2 month mark! I've been wanting to hit the 3 month mark for quite some time because I heard a rumor that that's when babies start sleeping through the night. But now I kind of just want everything to slow down. (I know I'll change my mind when they wake me up at 12 am and 4 am to eat.) They're just getting so big and these last 2 months seem like they've flown by! We broke out an activity mat this week and they love it. They stare, laugh and sometimes even talk to their toys. It's so cute. They're also really starting to enjoy their baths. They just don't like to get out because it's so cold. Thankfully their Dad now heats up their towels in the dryer so it's not so bad. Here are some recent pictures.

We're in Shreveport!

We've been here all week but this is the first chance I've had to blog. Devin has been traveling all week for work so I came over here to get some extra help. After the girls had their 4 am feeding Sunday morning, we jumped in the already packed car and headed to Shreveport. Our thoughts being that since the girls eat every 3 hours (and get incredibily angry if you keep them waiting) they would sleep longer after that feeding and I would make better time getting here with no traffic. I made it here in 2 1/2 hours...it was just me and the truckers on the road. I actually woke my parents up at 7:30 when I got here! It's been a great week and I've gotten TONS of help. As a matter of fact my parents have woken up and done the middle of the night feedings and let me sleep the last two nights. How great is that? Since they seem to have it down, I might just leave him here for a few days and come back for them at Thanksgiving. (Kidding Mom)

Here are a few updates on the girls...We went and visited Gigi (my mom) at her office yesterday and got weights. They have a really accurate scale they use for their shipments. One of us had to get on the scale and weigh first. Then we held a baby and weighed and subtracted the difference. My mom seriously didn't want to weigh herself and tried to make me do it. Not fair when I'm still carrying some extra pregnancy weight. Let's just say I won that battle.

Here's what's going on with the girls at 7 weeks:

Kate Elizabeth:
Weighs 10.5 pounds!
Has moved into a size 1 diaper from the newborn diaper
Can now wear all of her 0-3 month clothes
Is starting to recognize faces and voices
Keeps trying to roll over..she has very strong legs and can prop herself up on her side
Has just discovered her tongue and likes to stick it out and make silly faces

Lily Elise:
Weighs 9.5 pounds!
Still wearing a newborn diaper
Can also wear all of her 0-3 month clothes
Can also recognize faces and voices
Blows little spit bubbles that are super cute (and messy!)

Oh, and about me...I'm officially addicted to caffeine again. I didn't drink a drop while I was pregnant..not a drop. Unfortunately I'm a coffee snob and love Starbucks, which is an expensive habit. If you're looking for a great gift for a mom-to-be or new mom, get them a Starbucks gift card (wink, wink!) Also, I tried the eggnog latte the other day which was great. Just don't ask them to make it with soy. It's made with eggnog. Duh. Anyone else feel like it's officially the holidays when Starbucks starts using their holiday cups. Love that.

We head back to Dallas tomorrow and I'll post some new pictures sometime this weekend!

We're 6 weeks old today!

Several people told me that things get a little easier at 6 weeks and I can honestly say that I think that's very true. They are on a very good schedule still eating 4 ounces every 3 hours except at night. They go to bed at 7:30 pm and wake up at 12:30 am for their next feeding, then 4:00 am for their next and then they wake up at 7:00 am for the next, so they're really only waking us up twice every night. It's so hard waking up in the middle of the night but at least they're predictable! I can't wait until they're sleeping through the night. Fingers crossed that that happens around 3 months.

We got their one month pictures back yesterday. I attached a link to the slide show. Devin and I love them! It's going to be so hard deciding which ones to use for their birth announcements. If you have an opinion, please share! I also attached a few pictures I took this morning. The first two are Lily and the last two are Kate. Kate had an outfit change mid photo shoot because she decided to spit up all over herself. She seriously wore the first outfit for 2 minutes. What a waste! They are so happy in the morning and make all kinds of cute baby noises and sweet faces. It's by far my favorite time of the day with them.

All smiles

Kate and Lily are officially giving us real smiles. It's so hard to get a picture but I managed to get one of each of them over the last 2 days. They're also starting to make lots of cute baby noise and seem to be able to make better eye contact with you. They're changing so much so I have to do a better job of taking pictures. We get our pictures back in the next day or two that we took on our anniversary so I'll share those soon. Check out their first smiles!
